Jonathan and Phebe Huddleston moved from North Carolina in 1816 to a farm in Union County near Liberty, Indiana. By 1837, one of their sons, John Huddleston began purchasing farmland along the National Road in Cambridge City, Wayne County, Indiana. He and his wife Susannah built a three-story Federal Style home there, which they later turned into an inn for travelers from 1850-1875. Church of the United Brethren in Christ established Sept. 25, 1800; in 1889 a group broke away and formed Church of the United Brethren in Christ (Old Constitution).
